Flannery was born and raised in Lavaridge Town. Her parents went on an adventure while Flannery was still young, but she wanted to stay with her grandparents at home. As she got older, she became tired with living in the town due to it's older population. She would often ride the cable car up to Mt. Chimney and train in the heat. Once her grandfather, an Elite Four member at the time, retired, he suggested to Flannery she became the Lavaridge TownGym Leader. Flannery worked hard, ultimately becoming the Gym Leader of the town. However, a few months into her position, she was ousted due to not being confident enough as a Gym Leader.
Xenial Destiny[]
Flannery first appeared when she visited Oldale Town following her redundancy from the Lavaridge Gym, deciding to visit Norman, a friend of her parents to ask for advice. She met Lexi in Oldale Town and explained her situation after the two bumped into each other. Lexi revealed that she was heading to Petalburg City too and so the girls joined together to head to the nearby City.
After gaining advice from Norman, who explained if she got the recommendation from other Gym Leaders, her position could be reinstated. Because of this, she decided to remain with Lexi while she ventured around the Hoenn region.
When first getting to know Flannery, she showed herself to be quite aggressive and often lost her temper quickly. During Flannery's journey with the group, she continuously trained to work on herself.
When the group arrived at Mt. Chimney and they found Team Aqua trying to destroy the place, Flannery found her courage due to the passion she felt for the landmark. Because of her bravery, her grandfather reinstated her position when Flannery called a meeting of the HoennGym Leaders. She remained at the Lavaridge Gym from then on, but thanked her friends for helping, and promised she would help in any way possible if they needed her.
Torkoal is one of Flannery's Gym Pokémon, who she caught after she became a Gym Leader. During her training at the Jagged Pass, she stumbled upon Torkoal, who's strength impressed her.
