Legendary Pokémon (Japanese: 伝説のポケモン Legendary Pokémon) are a group of incredibly rare and often very powerful Pokémon, generally featured prominently in the legends and myths of the Pokémon world.

There has been much speculation in the Pokémon world as to which legends are true and which are fabricated and/or exaggerated. Despite Arceus being known as the 'God' of Pokémon, there has never been scientific proof to support the theory, other than folk lore and theories of the worlds creation.

Not every Legendary Pokémon has created and or aided the creation of the Pokémon world, although it's thought that most hold some sort of status (such as Dialga being the controller of 'time' and Palkia of 'space') in the Pokémon world.

Lexi has met many and on occasion, befriended Legendary Pokémon; she herself claims to be 'extremely lucky' to have met so many, although she has also been claimed to be 'known' among many Legendaries who wish to meet her.

The Winged Mirages

Articuno is the Ice-type Freeze Pokémon, based on Winter. It can create and manipulate ice freely by freezing the moisture in the air. Its translucent wings are imbued with the essence of frigidity, and the flapping of its wings chills the air, causing the conversion of water particles in the air into snow or ice, causing snow to fall when it flies overhead. In legend, Articuno resides within the confines of icy mountains, because those who have seen it were often doomed explorers scaling such mountains, and therefore it is believed Articuno makes it a point to appear before them and save them.

Zapdos is the Electric-type Electric Pokémon, based on Summer. It is always seen in conjunction with thunderstorms, because it gathers energy from the electricity in the atmosphere, and is said to live in such clouds. It also causes massive crackling and snapping sounds when it flies; these are contributed to the lightning bolts it is said to shed when airborne.

Moltres is the Fire-type Flame Pokémon, based on Spring. It can freely create and manipulate fire, and when it flaps its wings, it creates a brilliant flash of flames. If its body is injured for any reason, it will head towards a volcano and dip its body in the molten magma to heal its wounds. When Moltres thinks it is in the least bit possible danger, it will summon a flash of fire and seemingly disappear, flying out of sight very fast. Moltres appear to live in hot regions, particularly active volcanoes. It appears to migrate to the south during the springtime, making many believe that its appearance will bring about an early spring.

In the anime

Lexi met them in Stranded on Azure Bay, when they were being held captive by Team Flare in Sea Spirit's Den. She released them from their captivity and showed them out of the cave, where they then flew off into the skies.

The Mew duo

Mew and Mewtwo are the Psychic-type New Species and Genetic Pokémon respectively, with the latter being the artificial clone of the former. According to researchers, Mew was discovered deep in the jungles of Guyana, South America, and that the first born Mewtwo is said to have come from a pregnant Mew, who had it's embryo tampered with altering its DNA in the same jungle.

Mew is said to possess the genetic composition of all Pokémon. Initially thought to be extinct due to how rare it is due to its shy nature, very few people have seen it, and its said that it only appears ton those with a pure heart and strong desire to meet it. Its skin is covered with a layer of short, fine hair which may only be viewed under a microscope.

Mewtwo is intended to be "the strongest Pokémon ever". As a result of being cloned from a sample of Mew's DNA, Mewtwo is an extremely powerful psychic, yet its abilities surpass Mew's due to intentional alterations to the genetic source material it was cloned from. As such, it can use telekinesis for flight, to shield itself or to powerfully throw opponents aside. In addition, it is among the very few Pokémon capable of human speech, which it does so via telepathy. Otherwise, it conserves its energy until needed. In addition to its psychic abilities, Mewtwo can regenerate, which allows it to quickly recover from near-fatal injuries. Although its modified genome due to the studies and gene-slicing experiments carried out by Mr. Fuji resulted in its abilities surpassing Mew's, it also resulted in Mewtwo developing a vicious personality that is primarily interested in proving its own strength. It broke free from its captivity and destroyed the Mansion it was being held in, before fleeing. It's said that it can be encountered in Cerulean Cave in Kanto if a Trainer is strong enough.

The Legendary Titans

The Legendary Titans, Regirock, Regice and Registeel were created long ago by Regigigas, when it is said to have pulled the continents into place, and then created the three from an icy mountain, rocks, and magma in its image. When Regigigas was sealed away, the trio were spirited to the far-off Hoenn region and locked away in three stone structures, which were then sealed themselves. A message was left in braille to whomever would come to discover the Sealed Chamber, whose only access was via an underwater cavern, in the hopes that one day the Pokémon could be tamed.

Regirock is the Rock-type Rock Peak Pokémon. It is said to have been created by Regigigas with rocks. Recently, a study made the startling discovery that the rocks were all unearthed from different locations, and in its composition there is no heart. If it's body is damaged in battle, it is said to seek out suitable rocks on its own to repair itself.

Regice is the Ice-type Iceberg Pokémon. It is said to have been created by Regigigas with icy antartic mountains during an ice age. The deep-frozen body can't be melted, even by fire. It cloaks itself with frigid air of negative 328 degrees F, and things will freeze solid just by going it.

Latios has a very protective nature, especially towards his relative, Latias. He has a docile temperament and dislikes fighting. He will open his heart if he finds a Trainer with a compassionate spirit.

Latias is highly intelligent and can understand human speech. She can telepathically communicate with others. If Latias senses hostility towards herself, she will ruffle the feathers all over her body and cry shrilly to intimidate her foe. However, she will usually disappear if she senses an enemy, as they are able to use a form of active camouflage by enfolding their bodies with their glass-like coat of down and refracting light in unique ways, allowing them to become invisible or even take on the appearance of a human or another Pokémon.

Arceus is thought to have created the Sinnoh region and possibly the entire Pokémon world, the lake guardians Uxie, Azelf, and Mesprit; and the creation trio Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina. Because of this, Arceus is thought to be one of the most long-lived of all Pokémon species. It has the power to recreate the creation trio as well, presumably to guard the dimensions when a Trainer has caught one of them. Its power can also bring back things that it once destroyed, make certain things vanish into thin air, or to halt time.

Arceus is shown to care for and safeguard the planet in ancient times and protected it from cataclysms such as meteors, and it would show gratitude and compassion in return to those who treated it with equal kindness.
