"Vulpix live on high mountains that remain covered in snow year-round. They live in small packs of two to five individuals, helping one another survive. It can freeze anything solid by expelling breath at a temperature of −58 degrees Fahrenheit (−50° C) from its mouth. It doesn’t fare well in the heat, but when the temperature gets too high, it produces ice from its tail to lower the surrounding temperature."
"Inside Vulpix's body burns a flame that never goes out. During the daytime, when the temperatures rise, this Pokémon releases flames from its mouth to prevent its body from growing too hot. At the time of its birth, Vulpix has one white tail. The tail separates into six if this Pokémon receives plenty of love from its Trainer. The six tails become magnificently curled."
Vulpix first appeared in The Primal Truce! when the group were leaving Mt. Pyre after a run in with Team Aqua. Vulpix was found horrified by her surroundings, seemingly scared due to the earthquake and illusion caused by Team Aqua. Lexi rescued her, and afterwards expressed her life long desire to capture a Vulpix, so captured her.
In the time they spent together, Lexi and Vulpix bonded immediately and became close friends, to the point of which Vulpix remained outside of her Pokéball with Lexi shortly after her capture. When her other Pokémon were sent to Hayley upon her decision to head to Alola, Lexi kept Vulpix on her team.
Vulpix reappears when Lexi arrives in Alola. Due to the climate, Vulpix goes through a variant change which causes it to become an Ice-type. Faba explains this is called a Regional Variant and that Vulpix might change form depending on the climate.
Vulpix was brought alongside Litten and Type: Null to Galar with Lexi. Still in her Ice-type form, Vulpix was very determined to grow stronger. Because of this, Lexi used her often before her first Gym Battle. In GF016, after Lexi battled with Bede, the power of their battle caused a small avalanche within the mine. Quickly trying to escape, Vulpix ended up putting itself in harms way in order to protect Lexi - a move that the group thought would cost her her life. However, Vulpix evolved, and using its new power, managed to subside the avalanche and calm it down.
Following its evolution, Ninetales power and strength was paramount in many of Lexi's battles. She was used during Lexi's battles with Milo, Nessa, Kabu, Bea and Opal, and was also used during Lexi's stint in the Pokémon League. Ninetales became one of Lexi's toughest Pokémon.
As a Vukpix, she was a very loving and affectionate Pokémon, who liked to be held by Lexi. Despite this, sometimes when she became too scared or angry, she engulfed herself in flames (or in Alola/Galar, her body temperature drops causing a icy wind to form), which initially she was unable to be calmed down from by anyone, until her growing bond with Lexi led her to learn techniques to settle her. She becomes very remorseful even if her emotions are warranted.
As a Ninetales, she became composed and dignified, becoming very motherly with all other Pokémon.
Ninetales has the ability of creating drops of ice in her coat and then showers them over foes. Anyone that angers her can be frozen stiff in a second.
As a Kantonian Ninetales, she is able to inflinct curses and manipulate fire. She is highly intelligent and can understand human speech.
